7 Years. 6,000 Lives Touched.
Don't just talk the talk. Walk the walk. In 2011, a small group of Peace Corps Volunteers decided to do just that. The B2B program doesn't only education. It demonstrates. For six years, we've been leading by example, walking the walk so that we can empower Armenian youth to take charge of their health. Together, we've taken a step forward every year, reaching more communities and providing better programming. And our journey is far from over.
Since the program’s inception, more than 50 American Peace Corps Volunteers and Armenian walkers have spent 3 weeks in June traversing the country and spreading our message of health. These volunteers have taught in an average of 30 to 45 communities annually, reaching more than 6,000 Armenian youth over the course of six years. We've expanded every year, growing from 2 walking teams to 3, each covering between 250 and 300 kilometers (150 to 200 miles) total. Our holistic approach has targeted the most pressing health needs in Armenia, including: environmental, community, and personal health.
Border to Border has been supported over the years by many partner organizations, including: Active Youths Citizens Initiative; Syunik NGO; Boy Scouts of Armenia; Children of Armenia Fund; Armenian Young Women’s Association; Armenian Progressive Youths; National Institute of Education; Dilijan Youth Center; GreenLane; YMCA Armenian National Union; Vayots Dzor Regional Development and Partnership Center; Armenian Environmental Network; Armenian Red Cross Society; and Youth Bank.
